Tell us a little bit about yourselves: 

We have been together for six years and decided that 2023 was the right time to purchase our first home together. We are both university graduates and share a passion for travelling. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, we spent two months travelling the world together, visiting some fantastic locations such as Australia, Thailand, and Vietnam. We have both grown up local to the Bradford area and felt this development was the perfect location to start our family and build our future.

What was your living situation before buying with Avant? 

Before buying our home, we both lived with our parents. Doing this allowed both of us to save money for a deposit and meant that we could not only buy our first home, but also our future family home. We wanted to make sure that we were purchasing a home we could imagine living in long-term as this was an important factor for us. 

Which house type did you buy and why did you choose it?

We chose the 3 bedroom detached Leyburn which came with a single detached garage. This house type felt like the perfect family home for us, and benefits from a hallway which separates the lounge and kitchen. We also loved that it was the only Leyburn plot on the development and the first house you see as you drive up, which really appealed to us. 

Why did you choose Avant Homes over other developers? 

Whilst planning our first home, we had never considered buying a new build until we visited Croftside Quarter. Originally, we had planned to buy a renovation project, however we soon realised this would be very time consuming with us both working full-time. When we visited Avant’s site, the house types were different to other builders, they looked much more modern. 

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

We loved the idea of our new home being a blank canvas for us to make our own. We also loved being able to customise our home and tailor it to exactly what we wanted. 

How did you find the buying process?

The convenience and ease of the buying process was a massive plus for us, it was seamless from start to finish. We were truly made to feel reassured throughout the nine months from reservation to completion day. Having a regular point of contact helped massively, no question asked was ever too silly and this was really reassuring as first time buyers. The process could not have been easier.

What do you love about your Avant Home?

We love multiple things about our Avant home. The symmetry of the home is a really unique feature that we love. The French doors are a fantastic feature, which open out onto the garden which is even bigger than we imagined. The hallway is our favourite internal feature of our home, along with the spacious kitchen and dedicated utility room as not many homes have all these features.

Did you go for any upgrades from Avant’s optional extra range?

Yes, we went for the upgraded kitchen and workshops which I would definitely recommend. We also upgraded the bathroom tiles, LED strip lights, brushed steel switches/sockets, rainfall shower and spotlights in the kitchen and bathrooms. 

How has your life changed since you moved into your Avant Home?

Life has really changed for the better since moving into our new home. We now enjoy the little things such as cooking together. We have a rule that the first person home is the one to make tea! We love making new memories in our home including date nights in rather than going out. 

What is the community like on your development?

The Croftside Quarter community is lovely, and everyone is very friendly. There is a Facebook group for the whole development which is great for making new friends and seeking advice, even before we moved in. It's nice knowing that we’ve all had the same journey of buying a home with Avant. We are hoping to get together with some friends we have made on the development once we are all settled in.

Do you have any tips for anyone looking to buy with Avant Homes?

Our best advice would be to take the leap and go speak to a Sales Advisor at a site near you. They are so helpful in guiding you to the right property type and answering any questions you may have. We would also advise driving to a show home if you have the opportunity, even if it is a little further afield. We drove to Rotherham to view our house type; it was so worth it and made us feel even more excited. Buying our Avant home was the best decision we ever made.

Is there anything else you want to add about your home buying journey?

We would just like to thank the whole team at Avant for making our journey so seamless. We loved being able to nip in and see the Sales Advisor at any time and always having a point of contact for any questions, no matter how big or small. This really made the experience for us.
