Tell us a little bit about yourself: 

I am originally from Edinburgh and have worked as a chef for 23 years since I left school at 16 years old. Cooking is my passion, having appeared on Masterchef the Professionals whilst at my previous job in Ireland at the award winning Adare Manor Hotel. I have recently started my new job as an Executive Chef in Edinburgh city centre, so I needed to find a home nearby. I enjoy running, walking, socialising, and eating out, so the location was a key factor for me. 

Which house type did you choose and why did you choose it?

I chose the three bedroom semi-detached Hamilton, mainly for it’s private driveway, modern layout and it being extremely spacious. As a single buyer, I thought it was a great size and good value for money. 

Why did you choose Avant homes?

I wanted to move into a new home that was perfect with no stress, and I’d heard great things about Avant Homes, including how well they finish properties with very little snagging issues. 

Why did you choose to buy a new build property over a second-hand home?

A new build property appealed to me as I wanted it to be completely brand new with high standard finishings, as well as the idea of moving into a new community.  

How did you find the buying process?

I found the Avant buying process very smooth and seamless, especially with my Sales Advisor’s help. She went above and beyond and was always there to give me advice with this being the first home I had ever purchased. 

What do you love about your Avant Home?

The kitchen area is stunning, the bi-fold doors are going to be fantastic for the warmer, summer months which will open out onto the large garden. This home has very high finishes and has been built in a fantastic area. I decided to upgrade the carpets and flooring throughout the house and add a built-in wardrobe.
